Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is a thrilling activity to enjoy during a stay in Cartagena. The rugged coastline from Cartagena to Cape Palos in La Manga with its many rocky coves is perfect for shore dives. Further out to sea there are numerous reefs, underwater cliffs, caves and ship wrecks to explore. Another spectacular place for scuba diving are protected marine reserves such as the one off Cape Palos and around Islas Hormigas. All of these dive sites and more can be enjoyed by qualified divers on day dive trips. For those wishing to try scuba diving or do a course, there are several dive centres.

Cartagena Dive Centres

Visitors to Cartagena wishing to get in a few recreational dives or do a diving course have a choice of two dive centres in the port area. These are handy for visitors staying in the city centre who don't have transport. However, most dive centres try to be as flexible as possible and will often provide transport to and from your accommodation or a central meeting point. Bubbles Dive Cartagena are based on Paseo Alfonso XII in the port. Dive Centre Hesperides are located near the yacht club in the port. Both offer training dives, courses and various dive trips.

Surrounding Dive Centres

A short drive southwest from the city centre are three dive centres within a couple of kilometres from each other. Centro Escuela de Buceo Cabo Tiñoso and Rivermar Dive Resort are located in the resort area of La Azohia. Boba Diving are located in the neighbouring resort area of Isla Plana. 20 minutes drive to the southeast and located within the fantastic La Manga Resort are the popular Adventure Divers. Again, these offer training dives, courses and various dive trips.

La Manga Dive Centres

Many holidaymakers staying in Cartagena will spend a day or two in La Manga. This hugely popular sleeve of land that separates the Mediterranean sea from the Mar Menor Lagoon is a scuba diving paradise, especially around Cape Palos. Here you will find Isla Hormingas Diving Club, Mangamar Dive Centre and Balkysub Dive Operations. All three are found in the Cape Palos marina. A bit further along the strip is Scuba Murcia, and further still La Manga Dive School.

Dive centres are found in practically every coastal resort, town and city throughout the world. Some have been established for decades and others are virtual new kids on the block. So, when scuba diving in or around Cartagena, it's a good idea to check them all out and choose wisely.

Scuba Diving Sites

Scuba diving sites in and around Cartagena are some of the best on the entire Costa Calida. Add to this, numerous dive centres offering dive days, scuba diving courses and diving trips, and you have the perfect holiday destination for dive enthusiasts.
